Perspectives on Initiation

Categories: Hermetism, Rene Guenon, Secret Societies

Perspectives on Initiation presents initiation as essentially the transmission, by the appropriate rites of a given tradition, of a ‘spiritual influence’ which represents the ‘beginning’ (initium) of the spiritual journey. It is unique in giving a comprehensive account both of the conditions of initiation and of the characteristics of organizations qualified to transmit it. While most of its 48 chapters deal with specific aspects of initiation, others cover an astonishing range of related subjects, among them: Magic and Mysticism, Ceremonial Magic, Psychic ‘Powers’, The Symbolism of the Theater, The Gift of Tongues, Greater and Lesser Mysteries, Rose-Cross and Rosicrucians, Some Reflections on Hermeticism, and The Birth of the Avatara. Related articles are collected in Guénon’s Initiation and Spiritual Realization.

This is an excellent book which helps clarify the difference between an authentic spiritual path and “counterfeit” pseudo-initiatic organizations.

If you want more information on Guenon’s perspectives on what he called the “counter-initiation” (Illuminati) I highly recommend his final book “The Reign of Quantity and the Signs of the Times”.

      In response to Ogbeide

To be a member you have to be a satanic racist asshole who has a small penis and likes to penetrate lil boys anus. Oh and uses mind control to get their way.

      @ DJ’ matt MIx:

You’ll never be an Illuminati, because one has to BORN Illuminati. Illuminati is satanic bloodlines, a simple initiation will not do for anyone. Still you can become a freemason, just gain some dosh and publicity. They will take you in and you can lick the shoes of the higher members and illuminati then, once you’re a freemason. Is that what you really want? Be a pawn for the elite?
